All employees are hired under a written employment contract that must be signed by the joining employee and a company representative (often the head of Human Resources). Nesma contracts are in full accordance with the Saudi Labor Law and are effective from the employee’s first day of employment. What’s in a contract?
The contract should include:
a. The company name
b. The title of the position that reflects the job’s roles and responsibilities
c. The date on which the employee commences their employment
d. The duration of the probation period to be served upon initial appointment
e. The period of appointment
f. The hours of duty per week
g. Starting salary and benefits
h. The employee’s home of record
Any changes to contractual conditions must be approved and confirmed in writing as either a new contract or a contract amendment. These changes may relate to working hours, extensions to fixed contracts, promotions, reassignments or transfers.
